Summary
EIROforum Leadership Program Design
The group discussed the design of a leadership development program for EIROforum organizations. They debated whether to make the program inclusive and accessible to all members or maintain an elite approach focused on high-potential leaders. Angela raised concerns about an elitist approach not aligning with their organization's culture, while Eva proposed starting with low-cost, accessible seminars that could later evolve into a more structured program. The group agreed to collect information about existing leadership development programs from each organization to identify common gaps and potential collaboration areas. They decided to create a SharePoint site for collecting this information, with Tina offering to help structure the data collection process.
FAIR talent pipeline
Pradeep then presented FAIR's successful talent pipeline program, which has grown significantly since 2016, demonstrating the potential benefits of formalizing collaboration agreements with partner countries. Pradeep presented the modular contract structure developed by FAIR and GSI to facilitate international collaboration and scaling. The structure includes 11-12 articles in an implementation agreement, with only two articles being editable by partners, allowing for easier bureaucratic management and expansion to 75 agreements across various levels and countries. Pradeep outlined different programs ranging from short-term internships to fellowships and associate programs, highlighting the success of these initiatives in creating a ladder for international collaboration, particularly noting the evolution of GSI's openness to hosting non-German speaking students.
Stefan and FAIR discussed the process of handling unsolicited applications for their program, focusing on eligibility, funding, and matching mechanisms. FAIR explained that while 50% of applications are unsolicited, they have developed a structured process to quickly assess eligibility and funding within 4 days, resulting in around 850 new collaborators. The program avoids committees to speed up decision-making and has maintained a selection ratio of 8.32% in recent years. .
SharePoint Document Organization Setup
Eva presented a SharePoint setup for organizing documents related to working group meetings, including folders for competency frameworks, training programs, leadership programs, and topical workshops. The group discussed how to structure the folders, with Eva proposing to include tags for EIROForum organizations, meeting dates, and descriptions to improve searchability. They also discussed integrating meeting dates from Indico into SharePoint and adding member information, with Eva offering to set up the system.
