Description
The High Luminosity LHC will deliver an order of magnitude more data in the next decade. Further ahead, the FCC-ee will combine very high luminosity with clean conditions across the Z pole, the WW and ZH thresholds, and the top pair threshold. Both machines have a strong flavor and high pT physics program, and precise tracking and vertexing are required to maximize the physics sensitivity. This places strong demands on the detectors: excellent momentum resolution, a low material budget, and precise impact parameter resolution. In this talk I will review the physics from the High Luminosity LHC to the FCC-ee, with focus on the interplay between flavor and high pT physics and the resulting needs for tracking and vertexing.
