Third UK meeting on enabling AI in HEP experiments and theory
539
Blackett Laboratory
This is the third workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) and Emerging Technologies in particle physics, after successful events last year at UCL and Liverpool.
The meeting is sponsored by STFC and will discuss the scope and aims of the group, with a focus on barriers/needs/opportunities in terms of enabling AI in HEP experiments/theory, and how to best engage with future funding opportunities in this area further to the publication of the document "Enabling AI for High Energy Physics Experiment and Theory" as outcome of the previous discussions. The meeting will be held at the Imperial College with coffee at 10.30am and the meeting being held from 11am-5pm, with a lunch break.
The times on the agenda are indicative and reflect the topic that we will like to discuss. We expect to include contributions/discussion in areas such as:
-
Briefings on:
-
STFC/UKRI AI strategy
-
ECFA AI strategy
-
Funding opportunities beyond STFC
-
Discussion of key topics in terms of enabling AI for HEP (barriers/needs/opportunities):
-
Software
-
AI/ML-Ops
-
Knowledge exchange within and beyond HEP
-
Industry and wider engagement
-
Other issues/challenges
-
Discussion on the scope/aims of the group and next steps.
