Description

The Italian Quantum Backbone (IQB)—an ≈ 1800 km optical‑fiber network that is part of the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI)—was extended in 2025 to connect the National Metrology Institute of Italy (INRiM) with the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra. This presentation evaluates the preliminary timing performance of the White Rabbit (WR) link over this 300 km extension. In addition, we describe how the infrastructure enables the JRC to validate and test Galileo‑enabled timing receivers and provides a scalable foundation for future quantum‑technology and metrology research activities.
