Di2026 Preparation

Present: Gopolang, Kétévi, Heba, Chilufya, Diallo, Qinrui, Mounia

Salient points:

1. Qinrui Liu has joined the organizing committee. Qinrui is Gopolang’s postdoctoral researcher. 

2. The CERN designer is unable to produce a revised design. Consequently, Heba was asked to collect all materials produced so far and was put in contact with an external designer to move this forward. Heba has already held a first meeting with the new designer and provided all relevant materials and design requirements. The first draft is expected soon.

3. Gopolang shared a Google document to collect proposed speakers for DI2026. A total of 38 suggested speakers have been added, spanning early-career, mid-career, and senior researchers. This represents an excellent balance in both breadth and career stages.

4. Gopolang suggested that the next step should be to develop the structure of the workshop by finalizing the list of topics and assigning speakers to each topic.

5. Diallo, Chilufya, and Qinrui will prepare a draft timetable to be discussed at the next meeting on January 29, 2026.

6. The committee agreed that the workshop should include both plenary talks and parallel sessions.

7. Mounia will contact Patricia to reserve two rooms for parallel sessions. This will be done after the next meeting, once the days requiring parallel sessions are confirmed

8. Mounia will create the workshop page on Indico.

9. étévi shared a link to the KIC grant applications to explore potential travel support for (South) African participants. Heba and Soeb will follow up on this and report back at the next meeting.

10. Kétévi  will contact Anne to clarify the level of financial support that can be requested from CERN and to understand the relevant procedures.
