1st bbH group meeting in 2026
In attendance: A. Cardini, C. Biello, A. Gavardi, S. Manzoni, C. Savoini, H. Bayu Hartanto, L. D'Eramo, L. Fiorini, L. Karwatzki, P. Malecki, S. Ordek, S. Zoia, S. Ahuja, T. Belvilacqua
- Introduction of the group
- Announcement of the group conveners for 2026, mattermost channel, and twiki with updated documentation
- Status report from the theory
- Goal of the group: tackle the bbH process both for the search of the single Higgs production and as an irreducible background for di-Higgs searches. Overlap with ccH/cH production as technology is the same.
- Key features of the process: dependence on ybyt, yb2 and yt2 terms + calculations require 4FS and 5FS matching
- Updates for the YR5 and the predictions for WG1
- yc coupling discussion
- NNLO corrections for yb2 term + discussion of yt2 term for di-Higgs searches
- Questions:
- Tiziano: We're trying now to produce a study based on the ccH 4FS prediction, but we could gain a lot from theory involvement in this area. We'll kindly ask for follow up once we have progressed further to check that what we are doing is correct.
Christian: yeah it would be interesting to see a study, also to know which recommendations would be needed
- Wishes from experimentalists: survey review
- Christian: YR5 bbH recommendations for MSSM -> ask the WG3 conveners for current status
We moved to WG1, but our collaboration with WG3 is still open, and we should confirm.
The difference for NLO corrections seems to be 1--2% for pseudoscalar Higgs
- Christian: regarding a common generation for all bbH components. The first goal would be to add missing contributions to generators that do not have it, so that one generator can tackle at NLO both ybyt yb2 and yt2
- Open discussion
- Potential topics for next meetings: ccH (Tiziano supports the idea) + di-Higgs backgrounds and definition of the fiducial regions
- Luca: would be good to check and unify the definition of signal across experimentalists and theorists + how to extract the coefficient of the yb, yt terms
Christian: to clarify, the extraction of bottom or top couplings or the c?
Luca: the bottom, primarily, but also to clarify how to get the couplings in general when performing a measurement
Andrea: ok, for one of the next times, then I could prepare a couple of slides summarizing how we scaled the signal strength in the search for SM bbH done in CMS
