East Area IST Status – Power Converters 5m
      • Regarding the water filters, we did not encounter any issues throughout the year.
      • We took the initiative to replace some filters and will rotate them annually following the issue identified in the past.
      • Regarding the restart of the converters, no major issues were encountered.
      • We can say that the ISTs went very smoothly.

NA61/SHINE started preparations for the run with the hadron beam at 300 GeV/c (the setup the same as last autumn)

        • Target vessel has been installed on last Friday (thanks to Philippe and his group for quick reaction of my extremely late notice request)
        • Trying to get the job done with installation of the key lock in the buffer cage outside EHN1
        • Plans for preparations of Vertex magnets are agreed already
        • Requesting CEDAR-N for the beginning of March
        • Considering using a different type of beam detectors (SciFi). If we will manage to organize them, we will need a moveable tables (up to 3). The fallback solution are delay wire chambers. We would like to have a possibility to find a spot with better efficiency. Would it be possible to get a different supports for DWC1 and DWC2 to let them move in horizontal axis? At the moment they are in the purple frames with motorized movement in vertical axis.

Are there any chances that the beam (of any quality) could appear in NA before Mar 11?

Coming back to the request of providing a grease for PSD support.

      • CLOUD 5m
        Speaker: Antti Onnela (CERN)

Preparations on-going for CLOUD19 run in Sep - Dec 2026 (with cosmics, no beam):

        • Repair of thermal systems
        • Improvements to UV sabre cooling
        • Increase of mixing rack (N2 + O2) capacity
        • Exchange (or not) of a grounding washer in the upper manhole cover being investigated. If decided to be done it will be a major intervention needing to remove equipment, gas pipes and thermal roof from the top of CLOUD to gain access and to open the top manhole cover.

Autumn 2026 schedule conflict with East Hall roof heating panel removal project being addressed. Link person Michael Lazzaroni.
