This retreat-style workshop brings together developers and users of the CEDAR ecosystem for a few days of focused technical work and open discussion, away from the usual pressures of conferences and meetings. Building on a format we have used successfully in the past, the emphasis is on depth rather than breadth: sustained interactions, shared problem-solving, and time to think carefully about design choices, workflows, and longer-term directions.

A particular aim of the meeting is to strengthen the dialogue between Monte Carlo developers and experimental users, many of whom engage with these tools in very different contexts and on very different timescales. By working side by side in a small group, we hope to surface practical issues, exchange perspectives, and identify opportunities for improvements that are difficult to address in more conventional settings.

The year 2026 also marks the 20th anniversary of Rivet, providing a natural moment to reflect on how the project and its surrounding ecosystem have evolved, and to discuss priorities and ambitions for the years ahead. Alongside hands-on work, the agenda will therefore include space for broader, forward-looking conversations about sustainability, usability, and the role of shared community tools in an increasingly complex simulation landscape.
