People attending the AGM will be offered a free climbing session in Le Moll. Please inscribe here.

Mission Statement

The main objective of the Club is to be a focal point for climbers at CERN to meet and organise their activities, to provide a small climbing and meeting space at CERN, to share topos and information about climbing locations and facilities in the region, but also to organise social and climbing events as a way of creating links within the CERN climbing community. 

An annual membership fee of 20 CHF is required by the members, in order to support club activities.

Committee:

  • President: Chairs meetings, oversees day to day activities, approves new memberships and generates membership cards, general team management.
  • Secretary: Writes and distributes minutes for each meeting, manages the member list.
  • Treasurer: Manages the accounts and finances, including the annual audit and report.
  • Activities Manager: Responsible for outings and other social events, as discussed below;
  • IT Manager: Responsible for website, member registration and management of various accounts.
  • Equipment Manager: Responsible for the website, barracks space, physical assets, including library of climbing guidebooks and any other equipment.

Club Activities:

The CERN Climbing Club:

  • Maintains a place at CERN a small room with a spraywall, equipment for finger, arm and body core strength training (e.g. hangboards, pull up bars, rings);
  • Organises film viewings and talks around the theme of climbing/mountain sports as well as other community building events;
  • Organises climbing trips;
  • Negotiates with local gyms preferential prices for its members;
  • Promotes regular meet-ups at our CERN space or at local bouldering and sport climbing gyms;
  • Maintains and makes available to its members, a library with guidebooks, training plans, and climbing topos (schematic drawings/photos of climbing routes) for local climbing locations;
  • Organises climbing courses, given by qualified professionals. Courses are specifically targeted for the CERN community (possibility of courses in English, preferential prices for club members, etc).
