      Enrica Porcari

      Enrica Porcari took up the role of CERN Chief Information Officer in January 2026. She holds master’s degrees from the University of Rome and the University of Milan.
      She spent 15 years at CGIAR, where she held several positions including Director of Shared Services, Acting Director of Communications and Chief Information Officer. From 2016 to 2021, she served as Chief Information Officer and Director of the Technology Division at the World Food Programme (WFP). In July 2021, she joined CERN as Head of the Information Technology Department.

      Michael Arentoft

      Michael Arentoft is Head of Unit for Open Science and Research Infrastructures in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD). In this role, he leads the unit responsible for developing and implementing EU policies on open science, including initiatives on open access, FAIR research data, and research infrastructures such as the European Open Science Cloud.
      Michael was previously Deputy Head of International R&I Cooperation Strategy, Innovation Union policy officer, Acting Head of Strategy for ICT R&I, Sector Head of ICT R&I Work Programme and Planning, coordinator of ICT Essential Technologies and Infrastructures, and project officer in High Performance Computing and Networking.
      Before joining the EC, he was with Computer Resources International and with Rovsing International. His educational background is from the University of Pennsylvania’s Computer and Information Science PhD program and from the Technical University of Denmark’s Electrical Engineering Master’s program.

      ORE Funders’ perspective 15m

      Karla Anaya Carlsson

      Karla Anaya Carlson is a senior analyst at the Swedish Research Council, where she works on research system analysis and evaluation. Her work helps inform research policy and supports efforts to strengthen the quality and impact of publicly funded research in Sweden. Karla serves as the Chairperson of the ORE Funders Group.

      Jeroen Sondervan

      Jeroen Sondervan is Programme Leader Open Scholarly Communication at Open Science NL, a national initiative embedded in the Dutch Research Council (NWO). He works on advancing open scholarly publishing, including open access, open peer review, and new models of research communication. He has been involved in open access and open science for almost two decades promoting more transparent and equitable research dissemination. Jeroen serves as the Chairperson of the ORE Executive Committee.

      A researcher’s Perspective 15m

      Phoebe Koundouri

      Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri is a world-leading economist pioneering systems science for the sustainable interaction of Nature-Economy-Society. She is Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB); Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge; and Senior Research Fellow at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge. Ranked among the top 1–2% of scientists globally, she has authored 21 books, 800 publications, and led more than 100 international research projects in 120 countries. In the past, she held academic positions at Uni of Cambridge, UCL, University of Reading, LSE, and Technical University of Denmark, She is Co-chair UN Global Sustainable Development Report 2027; President World Council of Environmental and Resource Economists Associations; Chair UN SDSN Global Climate Hub, Co-chair SDSN Europe, and Founder and Director AE4RIA Research Center. A Fellow of multiple scientific academies and a member of the Nobel Prize in Economics Committee, she has received the ERC Synergy Grant and numerous awards, including those from the Academies of Athens and Cyprus, in recognition of her overall scientific impact.

      Moderated by Pierre Mounier (OPERAS)

      Pierre Mounier, the Chief Strategy Officer of OPERAS, a European research infrastructure dedicated to open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities, plays a pivotal role in monitoring and contributing to the strategic roadmap of the infrastructure. With a background in classical studies and social anthropology, Pierre is affiliated with the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), where he serves as the head of the international sector of OpenEdition, the French national infrastructure dedicated to open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities. Additionally, he co-directs the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) with Niels Stern. Pierre’s expertise extends beyond academia, as he regularly publishes on digital humanities and open science topics, shedding light on the social and political impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Recently, Pierre has dedicated his efforts to the development of the Diamond OA model in Europe, co-coordinating the European Diamond Capacity Hub with Johan Rooryck.
