I hope you had a good start to the year.
I’m writing to briefly introduce myself as the new HR Adviser for the EP Department, and to let you know who to contact on the HR side depending on your status.
In simple terms, our role in HR is to support people and the people aspect of your work, so that you can focus on science, engineering, and discovery.
For Staff members, I am your main HR contact.
For Fellows, Graduates and Students, your HR contact is Jack, the HR Coordinator for EP-FCC.
Briefly, where can we help you?
Your contract: onboarding, extensions, working conditions, and questions around CERN rules.
Your career: development, performance discussions, transitions, and sometimes difficult decisions.
Your wellbeing: situations where something isn’t working well: conflicts, tensions, or moments when support is needed.
Most of the time, everything runs smoothly. But just like in physics, we have everything in place so that our triggers can catch the unusual. That’s why we encourage you to reach out sooner rather than later, even if you’re unsure whether something is “an HR topic”.
Over the coming months, we will do our best to visit each group/team to introduce ourselves in person. This is less about procedures and more about visibility, accessibility, and building trust.
