International Quantum Computing Master Class 2026

Europe/Zurich
Description

The Quantum Computing Masterclass demonstrates how fundamental research in quantum physics is shaping the next generation of computing technologies, with transformative potential across science, industry, and society. This project enables participants to engage with the principles of quantum computation and experience, first-hand, how quantum algorithms are executed on real quantum hardware.

The half-day activity combines seminars about general aspects and introductory lectures to the core concepts quantum computation with a guided hands-on session using actual quantum processors. The main purpose is to illustrate how traditional ideas about programming face a radical change of gears when quantumness comes into play.

This first pilot edition is jointly coordinated by IGFAE–USC and CESGA, in collaboration with partners of the Spanish Supercomputing Network, with the aim of establishing a scalable international format aligned with the IPPOG Masterclass model.

The International Physics Masterclasses is a well-established global outreach program and flagship project of the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG), fostered by CERN and implemented worldwide.
