Meeting Minutes: Digital Data Threads Integration

Objective: Establish standardized methods for connecting diverse data sources across domains to enable seamless integration and automation in accelerator modeling.

Data Governance Framework

  • Conventions: Define protocols for data capture, identification, representation, and usage.

  • Roles & Responsibilities: Clarify accountability—who performs tasks and who verifies outputs.

  • Daily Integration: Embed practices ensuring data is interconnected, validated, and accessible immediately upon entry.

Automation Roadmap

Aim to fully automate data connections for accelerator models:

  • Automatically monitor key folders and extract relevant information into sequence files.

  • Fidél Integration Status: Currently excluded from core systems but available in WISE. Beam team models are limited to magnet length and strength, creating significant accuracy gaps.

WISE Generator Inputs (Magnetic + Geometry Imperfections)

  1. Installation database (layout + MEB slot allocation).

  2. Warm magnetic measurement (MM) database.

  3. Cold MM database.

  4. Geometry measurement database.

MAD-X LHC Enhancements

  • Incorporate nominal LHC sequence and optics definitions.

  • Key Goal: Evolve beyond nominal + Fidél models toward higher-fidelity representations. Assess impacts on beam stability iterations, convergence rates, and overall model precision.

Critical Action Item

Priority Agreement: Standardize conventions and file formats first—this unlocks efficient database management for beam dynamics teams.

Next Steps & Deliverables

  1. Draft document specifying requirements, commitments, conventions, and timeline.

  2. Develop enhanced Fidél+ model for immediate implementation.
