DryCool technology development at Siemens Healthineers 1h

DryCool magnet technology is a key enabling element of Siemens Healthineers ground-breaking MAGNETOM Free and Flow MRI systems. Key customer benefits include the removal of a quench pipe from the customer installation, zero reliance on liquid helium infrastructure, and significant mass savings which make the magnet easier to transport and install. The research, development, and production programme for these new generation of magnets has lasted at least 15 years. This talk will cover the history of the development which covers all aspects of superconducting magnets, including cryogenics, power electronics, and magnet design. It is anticipated that lessons learnt within this development programme will be relevant for a variety of large scale superconducting devices including accelerators.
