The Low‑Density Materials Workshop for Particle Accelerator Applications will bring together researchers, industry partners and laboratory specialists to examine how lightweight and nanostructured materials can address emerging challenges in accelerator technology. Over two days, the programme will consider community needs in areas such as high‑energy deposition, surface modification, safety and handling, and the growing production capabilities for CNT‑based and other low‑density systems. Sessions will cover thin‑target behaviour, thermal modelling, damage processes, and the latest developments in characterisation and simulation. By drawing together expertise from materials science, accelerator physics and advanced manufacturing, the workshop aims to identify current limitations, highlight promising directions and help shape a coordinated strategy for future research and development.

Held 8–9 June at the University of Bath, the workshop offers a focused setting within one of the UK’s leading centres for engineering and materials research. The event is structured to allow time for technical discussions, collaboration-building and informal exchanges across the community. Bath is easily reached via Bristol or London Heathrow airports, with straightforward onward travel to the city. The programme includes opportunities to explore the campus and the wider surroundings, combining modern research facilities with Bath’s distinctive architecture and landscape.
