Description

The CLEAR Scientific Board (CSB) periodically reviews the progress of the experimental program, steers the experimental program and gives recommendations on proposed experiments and activities on the basis of their scientific interest and the availability of the facility. The Scientific Board members participate to the formal approval process of the beam time requests.

This meeting is focused on the specific charge:
- Review and assess the past CLEAR experimental programme, with particular focus on the activities carried out during the last year.
- Review the opportunities offered by recent and planned upgrades (second beamline, laser upgrade, RF consolidation, and the CTF2 injector plans) and assess the current consolidation and upgrade plans of the facility.
- Review the proposed experimental programme for 2026 and provide recommendations on the most relevant directions or activities to pursue, including, if needed, a set of priorities for 2026, to ensure optimal use of the facility in the coming years, also considering the imminent start of LS3 and the limited availability of operational beam facilities in that period.
- Assess the strategic role of CLEAR in training and in the exploration of machine-learning techniques for accelerator operation and diagnostics.
- Assess the potential of the facility to contribute to CERN’s future accelerator programme and evaluate its possible evolution towards a primary electron-beam test infrastructure for the next collider programme.
