Description

This meeting is intended to review the overall status of the AWAKE Run2c beamlines and ensure coordination between the different teams involved. The objective is to monitor progress, identify potential issues early, and ensure that all required inputs and documentation are available.

During the meeting we will cover:

  • Design progress

  • Procurement status

  • Missing inputs

  • Availability and status of documentation

This particular meeting will help highlight showstoppers and define actions needed to keep the design, procurement, and installation of the beamlines magnets on schedule.

Participants: Eleonora Belli (EB), Vittorio Ferrentino (VF), Philip Schwartz (PS)

Discussion Points:

18 MeV electron line (TT450)

  • Magnets from previous run will be reused in the new positions, the layout with the functional positions can be found here: EDMS SPSLAWK_0043
  • No additional documentation is required.
    • Action (all): Check cabling request.

Proton line (TT41)

  • Magnets from previous run will be reused in the new positions, the layout with the functional positions can be found here: EDMS SPSLAWK_0042
  • No additional documentation is required.
    • Action (all): Check cabling request.

150 MeV electron line (TT451)

See attached slides for more details.

  • Dipoles: 2 operational spare units already available at CERN,  to be refurbished.
    • Action: EB to upload functional specs on EDMS as draft for discussion

  • Quadrupoles: 9 units from PSI already available at CERN, confirmed with functional specs (EDMS 3414189), to be refurbished.
    • Actions:
      • EB to officially release functional specs
      • MSC to provide refurbishment drawings, engineering specs and Magnetic Measurements Report (measurements will be likely performed in 867).

  • Sextupoles: 6 units from PSI already available at CERN, confirmed with functional specs (EDMS 3414193), to be refurbished.
    • Actions
      • EB to officially release functional specs
      • MSC to provide refurbishment drawings and engineering specs.

  • Sextupole in the injection region: 2 units to be produced, confirmed with functional specs (EDMS 3427939)
    • Actions
      • EB to officially release functional specs
      • MSC to upload design report on EDMS after internal review
      • EN-MME to provide the final drawing
      • MSC to provide Technical Specifications and complete the tendering

  • Octupoles: 4 units to be produced, confirmed with functional specs (EDMS 3414194)
    • Actions:
      • EB to officially release functional specs
      • MSC to finalise the design report and upload it on EDMS
      • EN-MME to provide the final drawing
      • MSC to provide Techcnial Specifications and complete the tendering

  • H/V correctors: 10 units from CTF3 already available at CERN, confirmed with functional specs (EDMS 3414187), to be refurbished.
    • Actions:
      • EB to officially release functional specs
      • MSC to provide refurbishment drawings and engineering specs.

Actions:

  • VF/PS to provide magnet codes to Frederic Galleazzi to be included in the final layout of the 150 MeV line.
  • check cabling request

Note: The attached slides also include the accelerating structure and the spectrometer magnets, which are under the responsibility of other CPs. Further details are provided in the slides. -> Action: Marlene Turner to provide functional specs for the spectrometer magnets.
