Coimbra welcomes the DRD1 Collaboration

The 8th edition of the DRD1 Collaboration Meeting will take place in Coimbra, bringing together researchers from around the world working on the development of gas radiation detectors. Hosted in one of Portugal’s most historic academic cities, the meeting will provide an opportunity for collaboration, discussion, and exchange of ideas among experts advancing detector technologies and instrumentation for particle physics and related fields.

This Collaboration Meeting will be hosted by Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP) and Physics Department of the University of Coimbra from the 29th June to 03rd July 2026.

The main topics addressed will be:

  • Detector technologies (MPGD, RPC, Wire-based, etc.)

  • Detector physics

  • Detector performance

  • Simulation and software

  • Electronics

  • New materials and Production techniques

  • Applications and Future perspectives

  • Industrialization

Important dates:

  • 23 March: start of registration and young researchers grant application. 

  • 17 May: end of early registration for the DRD1 Collaboration Meeting. 

  • 24 May: deadline for young researchers grant application

  • 29 May: announcement of the young researcher grant recipients

  • 07 June: deadline for payment of early-registration fee for on-site participation

  • 10 June: end of registration of late-registration fee 

  • 14 June: deadline for payment of late-registration fee 

 

Registration fees

The registration fees include all lunches and coffee-breaks through the week, the gala dinner, the social activity and the scientific activity, as well as a welcome pack and the participation in the welcome drink

  • Early-registration fee: 250 EUR (until 17 May)

  • Late-registration fee: 350 EUR (from 18 May up to 10 June)

Accompanying person fees

  • 60 EUR (only gala dinner) 

  • 25 EUR (only social activity) 

  • 85 EUR (gala dinner + social activity)

  • 190 EUR (gala dinner + social activity + welcome drink + lunches)
