MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FAR AHEAD 2026!
(applications and screening will open soon)
The US ATLAS FPGAs Advancing Research, ATLAS HLS Education and Development (FAR AHEAD) workshop will be held at BNL and will be targeted toward senior US ATLAS graduate students and all levels of US ATLAS postdocs. This is a hands-on workshop centered around how to use High-Level Synthesis (HLS) tools to program FPGAs.
FAR AHEAD is designed for participants with prior HLS exposure, including alumni of the 2025 US AHEAD FPGA bootcamp, and will cover advanced HLS topics, potentially including but not limited to:
- The launching of FPGA kernels from within Athena using OpenCL
- Applying AI/ML techniques on FPGAs, in particular through the use of HLS4ML
- Writing state machines to fully pipeline HLS algorithms
- Understanding how to optimize HLS code, including streaming DDR and memory access and connecting multiple kernels
The event will take place at BNL in Building 510, see a map here.
The workshop is co-organized by:
- Jahred Adelman (NIU)
- Haider Abidi (BNL)
- Antonio Boveia (OSU)
- Akshay Malige (BNL)
- Alexander Paramonov (ANL)
- Priya Sundararajan (UCI)
