1. Project Status & ERC Strategy
Michele provided a comprehensive overview of the current project status and pivoted to a strategic discussion regarding future European Research Council (ERC) projects. The team evaluated two primary pathways for participation:
A. Consortium-Driven Proposals
The goal is to submit high-impact, forward-looking ideas by leveraging the DRD 7.6b "full-matrix" expertise (from design through to system integration).
Key Focus Areas: * AI-on-detector and "intelligent" detector systems.
Programmable detector layers (utilizing FPGA/ARM).
Advanced interposers, 3D integration, and flex/hybrid PCBs.
Strategic Asset: Using the DRD7 framework to bolster funding potential and overall competitiveness.
B. Individual/Collaboration-Driven Proposals
Contributors may pursue independent ERC proposals within their own collaborations. DRD 7.6b will act as a support pillar for:
Detector prototyping and physical construction.
Access to established production chains and specialized technologies.
Coordination of financial/administrative flows (e.g., CERN T-account mechanisms).
Call for Interest: Anyone considering an ERC proposal is encouraged to "raise their hand" now to align production steps and administrative logistics early.
2. Contribution to TWEPP 2026
The community confirmed the submission for the Topical Workshop on Electronics for Particle Physics (TWEPP).
Title: “DRD7.6b: A Distributed Detector Lab for Accelerating 2.5D/3D Detector Integration”
The chair expressed gratitude for the collective feedback and support in finalizing this contribution.
3. DRD7 Annual Workshop 2026 (Turin INFN)
The general DRD7 workshop will be hosted by INFN Turin.
Proposed Date: Week 42 (12–14 October 2026).
Joint DRD3–DRD7 Workshop: A specialized session on 3D Integration & W2W (Wafer-to-Wafer) Bonding is planned for the second half of November 2026.
Action Item: A Doodle poll will be launched shortly to converge on a specific date in November (Early, Mid, or End).
4. DRD 7.6b Annual Meeting 2026
Specific details were finalized for the dedicated DRD 7.6b meeting following TWEPP.
Dates: 5 and 6 October 2026.
Coordination: Xavi and Miquel.
Agenda Planning: * The structure will include thematic blocks and sessions.
The team will consider inviting external speakers to broaden the technical scope.
