Alessandro Volta Prize Award Ceremony and Symposium in honor of the winner - Prof. Jean Dalibard

The European Physical Society (EPS), in collaboration with Gruppo Acinque (Italy), is proud to announce the award ceremony and symposium for the Alessandro Volta Prize, a new joint award recognizing outstanding achievements in physics. Named after Alessandro Volta—the legendary Italian physicist whose invention of the voltaic pile revolutionized science and technology—the prize celebrates his enduring legacy of innovation and discovery.
The Alessandro Volta Prize honors individuals or small teams (up to three members) for pioneering contributions to physics, spanning research, methodologies, instrumentation, and applications. The prize consists of a €10,000 cash award, a medal, and a diploma. The first call for nominations opened in 2025.
The award ceremony for the inaugural edition will take place on the morning of October 2, 2026, in the prestigious setting of the Teatro Sociale in Como, organized by Gruppo Acinque. Following the ceremony, an international symposium organized by the European Physical Society will be held in the Chiostro di Sant'Abbondio, University of Insubria, featuring presentations on the research of the prize winners, with the support of Acinque.
