News on the 833 Technical Gallery work (Florent Legay):Possibility to keep access to 508 (mandatory for the consolidation and ongoing works) via a ramp.
The ramp construction will take approximately one week. During this period, access to the building will be limited.
Ramp construction could start the work in mid-May, with the exact date to be confirmed following ISOLDE approval. The ramp will allow vehicles with loads of up to 12 tons per axle, with only minor deformation expected.

Machine related activities in the experimental hall
IS work #1.
Speakers: Erwin Siesling (CERN), Simon Mataguez (CERN)(from JV)
Starting work for the carottages in the experimental hall:
https://edms.cern.ch/ui/file/3340506/1/Liste_carottages_v1.5_docx_cpdf.pdf
Proposal is to start with #1, #3 and #8. Compatibility with RILIS work #1.Request from TE-VSC (Guillermo) to be scheduled once the ventilation is back
At this stage, the valves identified for replacement are:
- Vacuum sector HRS20: 4 valves from pumping groups
- Vacuum sector HRS30: 2 valves from pumping groups
All these valves are located in potentially contaminated sectors. Therefore, I assume that ventilation must be re-established before any intervention can be carried out safely.

(Crane) Planning end-wk17 / wk18:
- Thursday 23 April: CM1 transport from 170 to SM18. Heavy craning in the morning. Afternoon the crane is free.

- ISOLTRAP dewar handling by crane 9h-9h30: crane unlocked (Filippo), scaffolding work to stop for ~1/2 hr.
- 9h30 crane locked out again (Filippo): modifications / dismounting PUMA related adaptation (Filippo Cappelletti). Re-mount modified PUMA pieces in week 19 (4-8 May).
- 9h30 scaffolding work at RILIS continues (contact: Laura) - Mon/Tues 27/28 April: Horizontal core drilling for ISOLTRAP wall emergency exit (Severin + contractor) - crane available for RILIS + VITO work – NO crane lock-out
- Mon/Tues 27/28 April: RILIS laser tables removal (Transport) – NO crane lock-out

- Wedn/Thurs 29/30 April: Vertical core drilling for ISOLTRAP wall emergency exit - crane needed to support and evacuate the concrete wall part – crane lock-out by transport and telecommande in possession of Yann.
- Thursday-afternoon crane to be back available for dewar handling (ISOLTRAP) – Attn.: Fri 1 May off.
HEBT lines Gas-distribution system commissioning:
- This week Mon/Tues 20/21 April local Miniball, Iss and SEC gas-distribution rack siren and flash light tests (Nicolas Broca). Users and contractors have been informed.
- Gas detection system tests finished with a few points to address:
- Interface with outside panel to control the various electro valves (waiting for new safety valve to be installed in the outside cage (Letizia))
- in the 3 racks a copper grounding bar is missing to connect the detector equipment (James) - Since there will be no use of the system during LS3 an IS37 has been put in place (Letizia)
Platform EPC:
- HT cables tests of the cables between patch panels and machine ongoing: This includes access to the separator zones -> to be coordinated with the foreseen core drilling. Cables numbering will be renewed / added.
- Removal of the scaffolding to be done followed by adaptation of the old false floor. Proposal Jean-Pierre Billon-Grand. Been discussed and validate at the ICL meeting (16/04)?
REX/HIE ISOLDE preparations CM1 transport:
- CM1 check outside the tunnel check done - no dose rate at contact found. No risk of access to possible contamination inside. CM1 is ready for transport from RP side (Philippe Bertreix).
This week transport CM1 -> SM18:
- CM1 was lifted out of the tunnel to the position next to the SAS.
- RP check done, Wrapping done, Inclination and vibration sensors mounted.
- this week 17 (20- 24 April):
Transport CM1 from ISOLDE 170 to SM18 - special transport (truck & trailer) on Thursday 23 April as of 8h (confirmed). Heavy use of the overhead crane during handling in the 170 hall (CM1 onto pendulum/trailer).
SAS and handling zone to be empty (users to be informed). - Parking to be empty (IBDRS project has been informed): Will be blocked off as of Tuesday-afternoon 21 April.
- Thursday 23rd April difficult traffic circulation around ISOLDE with the Rte Einstein closed (CM1 transport) and Rte Democrite closed (crane). Exeptionally Rte Rutherford will be open - confirmed with the 133 refurbishment project.
Perturbations to be expected end of the morning at the border when the road will be closed for ~1 hr to pass with the truck. - RILIS planning kept in the loop (Carlotta, Laura), ISOLTRAP planning kept in the loop (Arthur Jaries) - ISOLTRAP dewars craning: We 22/04 (LHe) and Fri 24/04 (9h) (LN2) in line with the CM1 handling planning.
Planning REX/HIE: 170 REX HIE planning | Document 3383102 (v.1)
Vacuum pumping / ventilation:
- Ventilation systems operational as of 27th April confirmed. Tests ongoing. Hall and separator zone ventilation necessary for:
- Investigation at EBIS to find an assumed leak its vacuum system will need to be restarted (Guillermo)
- Replacement of the HRS20 & HRS30 pumping groups valves in the HRS separator zone (Guilermo)
Work in the 170 HT room:
- Julien Parra-Lopez EPC team: Replacement of the GPS and HRS target heating power supplies ongoing.
Beamlines:
- RC6 cabling work ongoing. The contractors have been informed of the HEBT gas-distribution system sirens and flash light tests
HRS magnets field control and measurement:
- Request from Marco Buzio TE/MSC to house a full 19" rack. Keep proposed position in 170 R-020 with cables through existing passage (if fits with Ar/N2 and AC tubes). Been discussed and validate at the ICL meeting (16/04)?
