Description

For global two-jet event shapes, the leading hadronisationcorrection is usually represented as a shift of the perturbative distribution. Recent work has shown that this shift is not necessarily constant, as was often assumed for many standard observables, but can instead vary appreciably with the value of the event shape. These recent studies have focused on configurations in which an ultra-soft non-perturbative gluon is emitted from a perturbative three-parton state, which gives the dominant contribution in the three-jet region. Closer to the Sudakov peak, however, the event-shape distribution is controlled by multiple soft and/or collinear emissions, and the non-perturbative shift is typically evaluated in a simplified picture involving only two hard emitters. In this talk, I will report on recent efforts to merge the two-jet and three-jet limits, with the aim of obtaining the most complete available description of hadronisationcorrections across the event-shape spectrum.
