Main points discussed

  • The air lines will be integrated inside the carbon sandwich structure of the service barrel. This solution will improve the thermal insulation of the lines and simplify the routing of the other services: water lines, optical fibres, and power cables.
  • No modifications are foreseen to the available space/cone for the SCB boards.
  • A gluing approach will be adopted for the SCB/DPB boards instead of a TIM-based approach. For safety and long-term reliability reasons, the two SCB boards will be glued onto a shared cold plate. The integration of the SCB boards on the service barrel will therefore consist of the assembly: 2 × SCB boards + cold plate + support. If one board fails, for example during integration, the pair will need to be replaced or reworked.
  • The power consumption of the boards is (worst case):
    • SIB: 0.31 W per board
    • SCB: 5.2 W per board
    • DPB: 5.1 / 5.6 / 6.4 W per board, depending on the number of SCB boards served
  • Based on these updated power values, Massimo will update the water-flow and temperature values to be used in the discussion with EN-CV, and will send an update to WP6.
  • The impact of the cold plates on the material budget, considering the copper plate and stainless-steel pipes, will be checked by WP1.
  • For the cooling of the SCB/DPB boards serving half-detectors during electrical testing in room 167/R-011, either water mini-chillers or an air-based cooling solution will be considered. This applies to both QMs and FMs.
