Description

Therese Hedstrand holds an Integrated Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, with a specialisation in metrology. After joining CERN as a Technical Student in the GM group, she is now an ORIGIN graduate in BE-CEM-MTA, contributing to several LabVIEW-based software developments in collaboration with the TE-VSC group.

      New SOVAC Application: Planned Features and Architecture Overview 20m

      Abstract : The Vacuum group operates more than 250 residual gas analysers (RGAs) from different suppliers, with distinct software and hardware interfaces, alongside thousands of total pressure gauges. These instruments are currently controlled through several LabVIEW-based applications such as LV4RGA for mass scans, DataLogger for pressure monitoring and data logging, and MAST for gas analyses.
      The new SOVAC application aims to unify features from each application, making it possible to easily combine data from LV4RGA, MAST and DataLogger for calculations such as RGA sensitivity and gas partial pressures.
      This presentation will cover recent LV4RGA developments and showcase current progress on SOVAC.

      BST: Control system overview for new beam screen treatment setup 20m

      A new project for beam screen treatment to reduce electron-cloud induced heat loads on the cryogenic system in the LHC arcs is currently in progress.
      The setup will be used to apply amorphous carbon coatings to sections of the beam screen in situ during LS3. This presentation provides an overview of the control system development status and the safety features being implemented to support autonomous operation.
