ECOI open weekly
The CERN DG will hold a Town Hall meeting in the morning of July 7th. Our meeting will thus take place from 2pm to 3pm, in the usual room.
Meeting notes:
Presentation 1, by Yasmine: questions classification & statistics
French public debate: the analysis covered the period of June 1st to July 1st and it is fine, as it insures that the dataset is consistent and the "Debat public" topics are now moving away from PED. Classification results are comparable to the prior analyses presented at the 2025 FCC week by the Feasibility Study group in charge with the interactions with the villages. While zooming into PED sub-categories, it is clear that the early decision to leave out the questions related to "other collider options" may need to be revisited. We though that it was more CERN's role than PED, but could consider addressing the issue by expanding a bit the scope of the web site news, e.g. to discuss the now famous "comparison pies".
CERN guides input: this dataset was curared by Reza. It reinforces the set of questions related to the continuity/break-through compared to the current installations and priorities. As far as we know no "wave of questiions" triggered by the debat is observed yet at the Gateway, which public is international and science-curiosity-driven. Specific events such as the Nuit de la science last weekend may change this picture, we'll have to follow up somehow.
Presentation 2, by Claire: towards a Guides FAQ
The main difference between this work and the previous surveys is that direct and open acces to the questions texts allows to organise them in a coherent list. Claire presents the prototype of a future " FCC-ee CERN Guides FAQ " document which is still to be considered as a DEMONSTRATOR.
The next step of the project is, before jumping into detailed answers drafts, to define few "typical contexts" for guides, review the styles used in the existing documents that will be our official inputs and define a methodology. 3 levels of answers have already been identified, and the very very early discussions initiated with few experienced guides, Julia Woithe and Niklas Herff will resume after the summer break.
Next steps:
Given that we are under embargo for the full Debat public period and that progress will be iterative, a specific e-group was set for those discussions. Interested PED colleagues should contact Claire.
