Description

This online training provides a hands-on introduction to RF-Track, covering both its core capabilities and the latest developments. The course is intended for new users as well as those wishing to become familiar with the newest features.

The training is organized in two sessions, each consisting of three blocks of approximately 3 hours.

Session A – Europe & Asia

July 14, 15, and 16

  • Start time: 09:00 CET each day
  • Intended primarily for users in Europe and Asia

Session B – Europe & USA

July 21, 22, and 23

  • Start time: 16:00 CET each day
  • Intended primarily for users in Europe and the Americas
  • This schedule should also make it convenient for SLAC users to join from home.

The content of the two courses will be essentially the same. However, participants from any region are very welcome to attend either week—or even both weeks, if they would like additional practice or have questions after the first course.

Participation

The training will take place exclusively via Zoom. Please register using the Registration form available on this Indico page. Registration is free of charge.

I recommend joining a few minutes before each session to verify your audio and video settings.

There will be ample time for questions throughout the training, and participants are encouraged to follow the examples on their own computers. The examples are based on Jupyter.

Prerequisites

To get the most out of the training, participants are encouraged to have RF-Track installed and working before the first session.

RF-Track is available for:

  • Linux
  • macOS
  • Windows via Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)

Installation instructions, documentation, and example scripts are available on the RF-Track website and GitLab repository.

Basic familiarity with accelerator physics and either Python or GNU Octave/MATLAB is recommended. No prior experience with RF-Track is required.

RF-Track is available for Python on PyPi and for GNU Octave on the CERN GitLab.
