Introduction

  • Summary of the kick-off meeting in June 26
    • Build momentum around FCC documentation and training activities

    • Update Pandoc to 3.10 (latest version) - Done!
    • Run the CI test s daily for the nightlies - Done!
    • Add explanation of concepts in distributing computing in the tutorials - TODO!
    • Add contributors - TODO!
    • List of mentors link will be distributed soon - CERN protected
  • Pending reviews
    • #162 - Update doc about GitHub PR cycle
    • #179 - Refactor tutorial
    • #181 - Notes on DIRAC
  • Review of pre-tutorial checklist
    • Document says people can follow the tutorial with their own computer
      • If people use institutional computers, do they need to install anything?
      • For example, is Kerberos needed?
    • Setting up xserver is also something that many people struggle with (in every tutorial I gave this came up as an issue)
    • Ask Jan Eysermans (MIT) if the instructions linked in the fcc-tutorials are up to date
    • Review instructions on how to access LXPlus, add a link to the CERN docs (https://lxplusdoc.web.cern.ch/ ?)
    • Do we need the section on virtual machines?
    • Windows section
      • Update to use WSL
    • SWAN tutorial must be updated - since now key4hep will be LCG based, we may ask SWAN admins to add the key4hep stack
  • Next key4hep release will be LCG based. It should not change that much, but maybe worth to add a note about it
  • Alias available
    • source /cvmfs/fcc.cern.ch/sw/latest/setup.sh

Round table

  • [Armin ]Chat with Claire from FCC PED ECOI:
Lectures from BNL/CERN School will be recorded. We can use these videos as a basis for a training catalogue for FCC newcomers
If there are topics that are not covered in the BNL+CERN school we can try to cover them e.g in future FCC Early Career Forum events and record them, to complement this video catalogue.
If you have topics you think should be explained in such a 20-30 min lecture recorded on video, let me know :-)
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
