14:00 → 15:00 On-shell scattering amplitudes techniques for EFTs

I will introduce elements of the on-shell amplitude toolbox and discuss in particular their applications to effective field theories. On-shell techniques bypass unphysical fields, operators, and Lagrangians, thereby avoiding gauge and field redefinition redundancies. They simplify the systematic enumeration of kinematic structures corresponding to higher-and-higher dimensional operators, and enable the recursive construction of more complicated amplitudes from simpler ones. Exploiting the analytic structure of scattering amplitudes allows to derive general positivity bounds on operator coefficients, to extract operator anomalous dimensions and matching coefficients from simpler lower-loop building blocks, and therefore to better understand their structures.
