Naturally trapping QCD axion dark matter

I will explore extensions of the QCD axion in which the PQ U(1) symmetry is also anomalous under an additional QCD-like gauge sector, whose distinctive feature is that it naturally provides a relevant contribution to the axion potential only at finite temperature. I will discuss the resulting cosmological implications, with particular emphasis on axion dark matter.
