I will discuss how consistency conditions on scattering amplitudes offer a compelling new perspective on model building and on what can lie beyond the Standard Model. I will illustrate this perspective through questions involving compositeness, the existence of higher-spin particles, the interplay with gravity, and puzzles from infrared physics, reaching as far as asking whether continuous-spin particles can characterise the ultimate infrared frontier.
