Towards NNLO virtual corrections to HH production in the forward limit

In this talk I will summarise the status of theory computations of Higgs boson pair production, and report on progress on a NNLO computation of the virtual amplitude in the forward limit. At NLO the dominant uncertainty of the theory prediction is due to the treatment of the renormalization of the top quark mass. Projections of the HL-LHC performance are very exciting but demand a reduction in our current theoretical uncertainties, strongly motivating computations at NNLO.
