ATS-IT Consolidation of Server Provisioning
Zoom
CERN
Meeting took place on Zoom
present :
IT) Diana - Jose
ATS) Enyuan - Paolo - Enzo
Status of ATS-IT cloud POC:
ATS-BE-CSS VM status:
- Enzo reported that 4 new Supermicro server inside a QUAD and a standalone Intel have been onboarded in the TN BareMetal resources. Enzo requested and received new projects in TN region:
- ACC - Kubernetes for Controls
- ACC – PVSS
- ACC - DPP
Enzo tested RHEL9/ALMA10 VM installation.
o Jose complain that VM coverage was not intended to be part of this project phase, priority and focus of project was intended to be the KsC cluster and VM were intended to be added in another project phase!
- Enyuan commented that is working on KcC migration and project onboarding is ongoing as expected.
- Paolo was requesting trough MatterMost channel a time window to do upgrades and high availability test. Jose explained that the only affected activity would be the creation / deletion of nodes.
- Nikos is on time with FECOS project over KsC and everything is already working.
Kubernetes's status:
- Diana reported that Argo instance and Adams was provided and waiting on Enyuan/Thomas test.
- Next week Diana will make a demo on new cluster API and waiting for Octavia, even isn’t a blocking point for them.
OpenCloud status:
- Jose state that Octavia most components are deployed, but some issue with SOAP/WEB REST issues and standardization where needed between the old/new KsC region. Jose is estimating to a couple of days, and Octavia should be able to be available soon.
- Last week, onboarding stuck new server, requested some troubleshooting. Jose commented that on 513 the default BMC protocol exchange is on RedFish, but in TN they had to set it to IPMI to be acle to onboard POC servers and IPMI as the need of CIPHERS that may change between the BMC vendor/generation, he ask if default should be IPMI/REDFISH?
- Enzo answered that majority will be only RedFish, but will need to be able to push the right CIPHER, Jose will provided a way of pushing it!
- OpenCloud team will appreciate to that ATS onboarding test will cover all type of HW that will be needed for the Sysadmin migration, to lower the support requests from ATS.
Long term actions:
- Add dashboards for OpenSearch on Grafana, to validate new deliveries
- Add job to see if we are still using default IPMI credentials
- Change to anonymous IPMI credentials
Next steps:
Ensure that random IPMI credential are replacing the actual.
ATS test KsC cluster creation and onboard as much as possible, all different kind of HW
Enzo rise the question of the meeting frequency and Jose said that the meeting frequency is more on ATS side decision. From ATS present members the 2 weeks frequency is enough.
