Tracing manufacturing data of HFM collaborators

→ Europe/Zurich

  • The aim is to have the ‘best practices’ we are using for the magnets we build inhouse, also for the magnets that come from collaborations
    • If something does not end up in EDMS, it means is not important enough and before or after the information will be lost.
    • Best practices, link
    • Technical documentation is in the section structure, always using the same structure, see BOND as example
      CERN-0000260669
      (SMT), BONDM CERN-0000269372 (LMF)
    • The project engineer following the collaboration has the responsibility to keep this folder alive and organized
    • The HFM folder (CERN-0000212426) is left for the ‘Management’, we must be careful with the double structure, even if it seems one can be the mirror of the other, with time they tend to diverge. All technical contributors should work in the same folder (section)
  • To be able to trace the manufacturing data of collaborators, all magnets need to be registered in the CERN naming portal.
    • For CERN magnets we also have tooling, we think this is not needed for the collaboration. The information we have from collaborators can be attached to Coil or Magnet
    • For each coil, we need to have the bare cable and insulated cable, but those can be with the same code of the coil (will be just a different number)
    • Drawings can be attached as pdf, don’t need to be imported to our CAD system
    • We will put all magnets in Accelerators/CR/M/MH
    • R2D2 is the only magnet created for the collaborations, is currently in FCC/M/MH, we will move it to Accelerators/CR/M/MH
    • For every magnet, we will create the ‘Coil’ and ‘Magnet’
  • We will add the main magnet parameters as equipment data for each magnet

  Actions:

  • Folder CERN-0000251057 is obsolete, should be removed and the information that is there should be moved to CERN-0000260669 (Sabine + Ariel)
  • Move R2D2 from the FCC tree to Accelerators/CR/M/MH tree (Steve + Sabine)
  • Create names for all ongoing projects in Accelerators/CR/M/MH (Steve + Sabine)
  • Propose a list of the magnet parameters to be traced as equipment data (Ariel)

 Update: list of equipment data
