Dear colleagues,
Thank you for an inspiring and enjoyable meeting this week.
After the meeting, a few of us discussed the benefits of writing up the overview talks given by us, in a brief overview document of MCnet Monte Carlo event generators and associated tools for 2026. The aim is to make this a yearly event, to have a document we can refer back to later on.
I brought the idea to the MCnet board today, and they were quite positive. I am therefore reaching out to you know, such that we can start planning this effort. I am happy that several of you have already tentatively said yes.
I attach here the two slides I presented to the board today, outlining the scope. The important thing is that this should be a low-effort, high return task. Take this to mean that the preparation should essentially be done: you should be writing up the contents of your talk, no more, no less.
I suspect that some of you may like to discuss this with your respective collaborations. In that light, I want to ask you to reply back to this mail with
- A confirmation that you would like to participate (or, conversely, that you will not)
- Tell me whether you need confirmation from your collaboration, and when that could happen
- A realistic deadline for when you think you could deliver your 2-3 page draft.
To be completely up-front about expectations, I don’t personally expect to spend more than a day writing this up. This just to say that nobody is expecting you to spend weeks drafting. Having a good summary on paper soon is better than a potentially perfect submission six months from now.
The aim is to finish before end of year.
Before I say more, I would hope to hear back from you. Please reply all, unless there is something you would like to keep private. In that case, you can reply back to just Chris and myself.
Thank you for your great talks, I hope we can put in the work to turn them into a nice document!
All the best,
Christian Bierlich
