Supercomputing Workshop: Introduction to HPC with Vega
Do you want access to large-scale GPU systems? In collaboration with EuroHPC supercomputing centres, HPC is the solution for you. This workshop will help you jump right into the European HPC ecosystem with a theory lecture on HPC and a hands-on session on the Vega supercomputer.
CERN Openlab is hosting its first tutorial session on high performance computing in collaboration with the Vega supercomputer from EuroHPC and IZUM.
This workshop will have a theory component to introduce users to large-scale HPC environments, followed by a practical hands-on with access provided to the Vega GPU partition with NVIDIA A100s. Users are expected to already be comfortable with using GPUs with basic knowledge of the command line on Linux, but without prior experience using supercomputing clusters. We will begin with a one hour theory lecture on HPC infrastructure, environments, and performance patterns. Then we will have a second part of this session as a hands-on where all registered participants will get access to the Vega GPU cluster to run an example project themselves. Please bring laptops because you will need to `ssh` into the cluster to run the hands-on component.
Registration will close on November 24th in order to allow our partners at Vega to prepare guest accounts and a GPU cluster allocation for all registered participants.
