About the topic

The Project Management Task Force, set up in June 2026 under the Chief Information Officer’s sponsorship, aims at defining a coherent, scalable approach to project management practices and tools at CERN, from group activities to programmes such as FCC. In Phase 1, interviews and a web survey identified six critical issues that follow from one another. The root issue is the absence of common project management processes. Weak data management, limited workforce visibility, poor tool integration and fragmented requirements management follow from it, and together they weaken the information on which decisions are taken. The evidence calls for a small set of common, connected basics, applied in proportion to each project’s type and size, not a heavy, uniform system. The presentation sets out the Task Force’s findings and recommendations.

Event organised by the CERN's community of practice dedicated to project management, systems engineering and program management.
