Meetings

  • IO meeting
    • Progress in collaboration with LHCb
    • Using "vanilla" ROOT to store raw data (pre-ntuple) (instead of MDF) at least possible
    • Custom data format for derivation jobs - memory too high with "vanilla" ROOT, but possible to improve
    • LZ4 compression: better mapping for levels 1-3 (currently all the same) - archaeology needed
  • PPP: meeting this week, IO investigations of RDataLoader with Darshan

Liasons' reports

  • ATLAS
    • SOFIE presentation by Sanjiban
    • Plannings for production using RNTuple and OpenData release
  • CMS
    • CAT meeting, CMGRDF - RDF-based analysis framework included in official list
    • Discussions about RNTuple on S3, and with core software framework group
  • FCC
    • Submission for FCC software workshop in December?

Topics - proposal by Vincenzo

  • Discussion about limiting number of open PRs by (new) contributors
  • Jakob & JonasH: worried that second paragraph may "scare away" contributors
  • Will vote in Mattermost on adding paragraphs individually
  • Application of policy at reviewer descretion

Round table

  • Discussion about downloading builtin tarballs into a prepared directory
  • JSROOT in Jupyter: follow-up on fallback via the web (maybe warning message?)
