Description
The Higgs boson is a cornerstone of the Standard Model, and increasingly precise measurements of its properties provide stringent tests of our understanding of fundamental physics. In this seminar, we will present the latest CMS measurement of the Higgs boson mass, combining the four-lepton and diphoton decay channels using the full Run 2 proton–proton collision dataset at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. For the first time, the measurement achieves a precision better than 100 MeV, marking a major milestone in the determination of the Higgs boson mass in these channels. This unprecedented precision builds on the legacy calibrations of the Run 2 datasets and is further enabled by advances in the calibration of the photon energy scale and muon momentum. The result represents a significant step forward in precision Higgs physics, providing a more precise determination of a fundamental parameter of the Standard Model and an important input to global studies of Higgs boson properties. Finally, we will present an outlook on the future prospects for this measurement, highlighting the precision that could be achieved by the end of Run 3 and the full HL-LHC program.
