Latvijas 108. dzimšanas diena | Latvia's 108th birthday
Restaurant 1
CERN

A small and distinctly informal gathering at the CERN Restaurant 1 to celebrate Latvia's 108th birthday!
The idea of establishing Latvia as an independent and sovereign country was first publicly expressed in writing in the 1903 November issue of the Switzerland-based radical journal "Proletārietis" [1].
123 years later all of us together have the honour to both enjoy and safeguard this idea in Latvia, Switzerland and elsewhere in the world!
Join us in celebrating the birthday of a free, sovereign and democratic Latvia!
Thanks to our wonderful colleagues from the Latvian Mission in Geneva, Latvian beer and some snacks will be available, as well as an opportunity for the braver ones to sample the famous Latvian Riga Black Balsam!
Given that we will be in R1, should the snacks run out sooner than expected, there should still be the option to grab something to eat, therefore there is no need to prepare or bring any food.
Should you wish to bring something tasty for everyone, please, let me know via karlis.dreimanis@cern.ch.
As this is an informal event, there is no strict "door" time, however, let's aim to meet in the veranda area of R1 around 18:30.
If you are planning on joining, please, fill in the registration form so that we can estimate the number of participants; the registrations will not be visible publicly.
