Description

We discuss the probabiblity distribution of the baryon number $P(N)$ in the present of chiral phase transition. First, we clarify the relation of $P(N)$ with the phase structure in complex chemical potential based on the Landau theory of phase transition. Then, we compute $P(N)$ and resultant cumulants, which are expected to be sensitive to critical behavior, in the quark-meson model with critical fluctuaions being taken into account through the functional renormalization group. We discuss influences of the fluctuations by comparing the results with the mean-field calculations and hadron gas model.
