A few selected results obtained by ALICE from the two first LHC heavy-ion runs in 2010 and 2011 will be presented. These results will be discussed in the context of our understanding of the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions at the LHC and the dynamics of nuclear matter at extreme temperatures.
