Description
The PS and the East Area experimental zone will be re-commissioned with beam
starting on April 8th, 2006. The first beam from PS should then be delivered to
the SPS on May 15th. For a ‘normal’ start-up these four weeks should be much more
than sufficient. However, the 2006 start-up is far from ‘normal’ and could even be
called a ‘challenge’. During the 17 month shutdown between November 2004 and April
2006 many things have been changed and worked on. This presentation tries to give
an overview of the implications of all these changes on the start-up. It will
address points that need special attention, like for example the impact on the beam
performance of the 20 renovated PS main magnets, but also what it means to operate
from the CCC. It is also a request for support from the different groups to
complete this ‘challenge’ as efficient as possible in the given time.
At the end of the presentation a preliminary ‘start-up with beam planning’ will be
presented for discussion.
