Description

This talk will present the changes resulting from the move from the MCR to the CCC for the PS access control system and the displacement of the SPS access consoles in to the CCC respectively. The PS access system has been modified to be able to operate with a console located 4 km’s away. A project to upgrade and replace the PS secondary areas access control has been launched. The same system will be also used for the SPS Experimental areas access control system upgrade. The SPS access system itself will not be modified for the 2006 runs but a number of compensatory measures will have to be added in order to comply with the INB status of the facility. These compensatory measures range from more limited access opportunities to more stringent patrol procedures to a much stricter enforcement of the use of emergency exits. The compensatory measures will later be followed by a major upgrade of the SPS access system and certain preparations for this upgrade will have to be made during 2006. A brief overview of the functional tests and validations planned for both the PS and SPS systems to ensure that they work as expected after the various modifications will also be given.
