The responsibility of the Btrain measuring equipment and analog electronics will be taken over by AT-MTM from the accelerator cold check-out in 2006. The transfer of knowledge from AB-PO to AT-MTM has already taken place with the successful commissioning of the LEIR Btrain. The talk will address the issues related to the maintenance of all B-train systems. The interface with the...

In 2006, the Linac2, PS Booster and ISOLDE facilities will be re-started from the CCC. While these machines have been running in 2005, and no major hardware changes are planned for the 2005/2006 shutdown, the main challenge will be the full remote operation without the possibility of quick local interventions by the operator. As for the Linac2 and PSB, work has been done to identify and...

The PS and the East Area experimental zone will be re-commissioned with beam starting on April 8th, 2006. The first beam from PS should then be delivered to the SPS on May 15th. For a ‘normal’ start-up these four weeks should be much more than sufficient. However, the 2006 start-up is far from ‘normal’ and could even be called a ‘challenge’. During the 17 month shutdown between...

After 18 months of shutdown, the AD and its experimental areas will be re-started in essentially the same configuration as in 2004. Before starting up with beam, a comprehensive test of all AD equipment as well as a cold check-out will be required. This talk will deal with issues concerning the startup planning such as access, beam requirements, status of AD sub-systems and AD...

Experience tells us that the main ingredient for a successful start up of the SPS is a thorough and well conducted cold check out. Neverteless, the behaviour of certain equipment can only be checked with beam. The number of hardware and software modifications, implemented during a more than one year’s shutdown, imply an extended check-out with and without beam. The classical features to be...
