Final states containing a vector boson and multiple jets provide an important testing ground for perturbative QCD at high momentum transfers.
They serve as a signal channel for Standard Model (SM) processes (such as top production), as well as search channel for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the SM (such as supersymmetry). I will present the latest results on W and Z boson production in association with jets using the CDF II detector.
I will discuss the challenges of making such measurements at an hadronic collider giving particular emphasis to the jet reconstruction and background estimate. I will discuss how the latest leading order and next to leading order calculations compare with these measurements, and how such measurements serve as critical input for many high pt analyses.
