At the LHC even heavy particles like W and Z bosons,
Higgs bosons, top quarks or new particles at the electroweak scale can
be produced with a large Lorentz boost. In this seminar I discuss the
deployment of novel techniques developed specifically for such
topologies in ATLAS and CMS. I start with a brief overview of the
lessons learned during the first two years of data taking, the
experimental challenges that were encountered and how experiments were
able to deal with them. To evaluate the power of this new approach
results of several recent applications in searches are compared to
those of more classical analyses. In the final minutes of the seminar
I'll speculate on the future of these techniques
