Description
An overview of aging effects on different classes of polymers, of the mechanisms of oxidative degradation and stabilization procedures is presented. Among the various physico-chemical techniques used to evidence and study the oxidative aging effects, the chemiluminescence (CL) method, together with other methods – Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR) Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), available in the Chemistry Laboratory of the TS-MME group, is presented and discussed. The principles of the lifetime evaluation, as well as its estimation methods are approached.
