Description
Recent studies of lattice gauge theories have focused on the identification of IR fixed points in four dimensions as the number of colors and flavors are varied. Such studies rely on the existence of a conjectured RG flow, and are potentially affected by systematic errors. The phi^6 theory in three dimensions is an interesting toy model where some of these questions can be addressed. I will review some analytic results, and present their extension to the case of a theory regulated on a lattice. Finally I will discuss what can be learned from the toy model, and its utility for four-dimensional studies.
