Notes from the presentation:

• SA3 activities:
  1. makes releases of glite sw (ex: AFS UI)
  2. then on PPS (pre-production system)
  3. the deployement for production
  • Activity 1) above uses ~30 machines at CERN , plus some partners, plus Virtual Machines (VM) on 12 boxes = ~50 VM's
  • many combinations to be tested of OS x glite version x architecture:
    • SLC, SL, Debian, ...
  • VM helps for a quick restart of a clean machine
• Needs:
  • many OS
  • images to be generated easily (uses "OSFARM"), then glite sw installed with YUM
    • images are currently put on Dom0 by hand
  • Start/stop of VM with "vgrid" (from webafs);
    • hosts need http
    • pings VM
    • VM's are not monitored ==> People do not always stop them :-(
    • "vgrid" is similar to "GridBuilder" from NorduGrid
